Put (Something) on hold


To postpone a project 

The construction company put the project on hold while they researched the problem with the bridge

"Put (something) on hold)" se utiliza al posponer o suspender temporalmente algo.

Ejemplos:

Se han suspendido una serie de inversiones nacionales y extranjeras, lo que ha reducido la demanda interna agregada. (" A number of domestic and foreign investments were put on hold, reducing aggregate domestic demand.")

Sin embargo, hemos decidido suspender por el momento todo gasto adicional para este proyecto.  ("However, we have decided to put on hold any new additional spending for this project.")

Ejemplos adicionales:

"We are forced, for the time being, to put the purchase of buildings on hold."

"They put the project on hold until they got enough money to finish it"
