The last in a series of unpleasant events which finally makes you feel that you cannot continue to accept a bad situation. 

Example: You have been rude to me all day. I've had it. That's the last straw that breaks the camel's back!

La gota que derramó el vaso.

Example sentences:

  • You broke a lot of rules and we tried to ignore it. But stealing money from us was the last straw that broke the camel's back, we're sending you home to your parents / Rompiste muchas reglas y tratamos de ignorarlo. Pero robar nuestro dinero fue la gota que derramó el vaso, te vamos a enviar a casa de tus padres.

  • He came to work late every day that week. Then on Friday, he didn't show up at all, that was the last straw that broke the camel's back / Él vino a trabajar muy tarde todos los días de la semana. El Viernes, él no aparece en lo absoluto, eso fue la gota que derramó el vaso.
